A look at the new plug-in hybrid 2023 Lexus RX 450h+

One of the most popular sport utility vehicles in the world is being updated for 2023 with the Lexus RX. There have been many changes to the luxurious RX and it now features new powertrains, new technology, a sporty exterior design, and a luxurious interior. Nevertheless, here we will highlight the all-new 2023 Lexus RX 450h+, the first ever plug-in hybrid in the Lexus RX SUV lineup.

The 2023 Lexus RX model lineup includes four new engines, but the RX 450h+ powertrain is likely to garner the most attention. Powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder Atkinson cycle gas engine and an electric motor at the rear wheels, this impressive powertrain delivers impressive performance. This vehicle generates 302 horsepower, which is more than the RX 350h.

Perfect blend of luxury and performance

Even though the RX 450h+ model doesn't offer as much power as the RX 500h, it offers accelerations that are nearly as quick thanks to its impressive engine layout. This is due to the larger electric motor that delivers more low-end torque.

Lexus hasn't confirmed the fuel economy ratings for the new PHEV Lexus RX, but we expect it to consume around 6.5 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. In terms of range, we expect it to be very similar to the Lexus NX 450h+'s 62 km.

In other words, after charging the battery completely, the Lexus RX 450h+ will be able to drive around 60 km without using any fuel. Charge time for this battery is under three hours on a level II charger and under a day on a level I charger. With the Lexus RX plug-in hybrid, you can drive to work and back without needing a single drop of fuel. Imagine the savings at the end of the year. Alternatively, if you have to drive more than 60 km every day, having the RX do part of the journey on electric power alone will still save you a lot of money on fuel.

The new 2023 Lexus RX 450h+ delivers performance and efficiency, with all the luxury and refinement that we know of the Lexus brand. Give us a call today to learn more.
