Some spring maintenance tips for your Lexus

Spring seems to have arrived, or at least winter is drawing to a close. With the return of good weather, it is a good time to perform maintenance on your Lexus vehicle. We can do this maintenance at the same time we have our summer tires installed, or simply schedule it over the next few weeks.

Why perform Lexus spring maintenance?

Spring maintenance removes all traces that winter can leave on our vehicle and, as we know, it leaves traces. Cold, but especially salt and sand on the roads can damage the exterior of our vehicle's mechanical components or our bodywork, while driving on ice and snow makes our Lexus work harder.

The alignment, suspension, battery and brakes work especially hard in the winter and it's always a good idea to have everything checked out when warm weather returns.

The goal of a spring maintenance program is to make sure everything is mechanically in order on our vehicle when winter comes to an end, to replace fluids and oils and to clean the vehicle from top to bottom. In doing so, we ensure the optimal performance of our Lexus in summer and we preserve its resale value and its already exemplary reliability.

What exactly is a spring maintenance program?

A spring service is essentially a normal maintenance plan that includes an oil change, a check of the mechanical components, an inspection of the engine and cabin filters and an inspection/adjustment of the brake fluids, the steering and the coolant fluids.

However, spring maintenance must also include cleaning the interior and exterior of the vehicle. The interior cleaning removes all traces of calcium, the sand fused in the carpets (even if we put winter carpets, salt and sand often find a way to get through) and any other element left behind by winter.

Exterior cleaning is even more relevant. It allows you to clean under the vehicle and to get deep in places where salt can hide. It also cleans the bodywork, and we can opt for different products that protect our paint for the summer against the sun's rays. While you're at it, you can apply rain-proofing treatment to the windshield in anticipation of an upcoming downpour.

In short, spring maintenance resets the odometer for our Lexus and allows it, our vehicle, to enjoy the summer as much as we sure will.
