Trailblazing with Elegance: The 2024 Lexus GX 550 Revealed

The 2024 Lexus GX 550 has been unveiled, marking a new era in the world of sophisticated utility vehicles. Completely redesigned and crafted on a 20-year foundation in the Sport Utility Segment, this Lexus GX 550 is equipped to meet the needs of the adventurous driver.

At the heart of the 2024 GX 550 is a 3.4L twin-turbo V6 engine producing 349 horsepower and a hefty 479 lb.-ft. of torque. This muscular powerhouse is coupled with a 10-speed Direct Shift Automatic Transmission. It effortlessly blends the GX's traditional off-road capability with increased towing capacity of up to 8,000 lbs, ensuring both urban commutes and off-the-beaten-path journeys are seamlessly catered for. A hybrid powertrain will be added to the lineup at a later date.

The 2024 GX 550 showcases its first-ever Overtrail grade, outfitted with standard 33-inch All-Terrain tires and 18-inch wheels. This new grade falls under Lexus' recently announced "Overtrail Project", an initiative designed to encourage exploration and refined adventures in the great outdoors. In total, the GX 550 will be offered in six grades: Signature, Premium, Luxury, Executive, Overtrail, and Overtrail+.

On the inside, the GX provides a driver-focused cockpit design, featuring a standard 14-inch Multimedia Touchscreen Display with Lexus Interface technology. The interior combines thoughtful elements and modern technology, designed to inspire customers to indulge in their urge to travel, whether to remote spaces or on regular errands.

Exterior design modifications introduce a square-body profile, including a bold front design with premium Triple Beam LED headlamps, enhancing off-roading functionality. A total of 11 colour options will be available depending on the grade, with Overtrail and Overtrail+ offering exclusive bi-tone exterior colour combinations.

At the core of Lexus' commitment to safety, the 2024 GX 550 includes the standard Lexus Safety System+ 3.0. This advanced suite of safety technologies includes features like Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Pedestrian Detection, All-speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), and Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), among others.

Produced at the Tahara plant in Japan, the 2024 Lexus GX 550 is expected to hit the market in early 2024. This all-new GX represents a crucial chapter for Lexus, combining daily drive luxury with rugged off-road capability. The 2024 Lexus GX 550 truly redefines the meaning of a "Sophisticated Utility Vehicle."
