When to install summer tires on your vehicle?

Summer tires are designed to work best when the temperature is above 7°C. In colder weather, summer tires harden, which reduces traction and increases braking distance, as well as causing premature wear of the tire tread.

It is therefore important to ensure that the temperature does not drop below 7°C once summer tires are installed. You must also take into account the unexpected winter storms of March and April.

If you take a second to look at the average March and April weather in Ontario, you will see that the outside temperature doesn’t improve above 7 degrees until at least the second week of April. Moreover, we tend to get a snowstorm in April once every three years, again according to the date from the Weather Network.

With that in mind, it is probably best to wait until April before installing your summer tires on your Lexus.
