Sport sedans have a reputation for being fair-weather cars. Many shoppers picture a rear-drive...
Cold mornings test a vehicle before it even leaves the driveway. Wiper blades freeze to the glass, the steering wheel feels like ice and the seats take forever to warm up. Most drivers have scraped, waited and shivered through all three at some point.
The 2026 Lexus RX takes care of two of those problems on every grade in the lineup. A windshield wiper de-icer and heated front seats come standard, from the first RX 350 Premium to the top RX 500h F SPORT Performance models. Here is a closer look at how these features help, and what else the RX brings to a Canadian winter.
What Does a Windshield Wiper De-Icer Do?
A wiper de-icer warms the lower part of the windshield, right where the wiper blades rest. On a frosty morning, that heat helps loosen blades that have frozen to the glass. It also helps clear the ice and slush that build up at the base of the windshield during a storm.
Why does that matter? Frozen blades can tear or skip across the glass, leaving streaks right in your line of sight. When the blades sit on a warmed surface, they move freely and sweep the glass cleanly. That means better visibility, and less time spent chipping ice before you drive.
Every 2026 RX also comes with rain-sensing wipers. They turn on and adjust their speed when moisture hits the windshield, so you can keep both hands on the wheel when snow starts to fall. An intermittent rear window wiper is standard as well.
Heated Front Seats From the Very First Trim

Heated front seats are standard on every 2026 RX. You do not need to move up to a higher trim to get them. The RX 350 Premium and RX 350h Premium, which open their lineups, include heated front seats from day one.
Those same Premium grades also come with a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel. Together, warm seats and a warm wheel make the first few minutes of a winter drive far more comfortable. Many higher grades add ventilated front seats too, such as the RX 350 F SPORT Black Line and RX 500h F SPORT Black Line. That gives you cooling for summer on top of heat for winter.
More Cold-Weather Help Built Into the RX
The wiper de-icer and heated seats are just the start. The 2026 RX includes several other features that help on cold, snowy days.
- All-wheel drive on every grade: Every 2026 RX sends power to all four wheels for better grip on snow and slush.
- Rain-sensing wipers: Standard on every RX to react the moment snow or rain hits the glass.
- Heated side mirrors: Standard on the Premium grades to help clear frost and fog from your mirrors.
- Rear window wiper: An intermittent rear wiper on every RX keeps your rear view clear.
Four Powertrains, the Same Winter-Ready Standards
The RX comes with four powertrain choices, and the wiper de-icer and heated front seats come with all of them.
The RX 350 uses a 2.4 L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that makes 275 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. It suits drivers who want strong, familiar gas power.
The RX 350h is a hybrid built around a 2.5 L 4-cylinder engine. It produces 246 hp and 233 lb-ft of torque, with the efficiency of Lexus hybrid power.
The RX 450h+ is a plug-in hybrid that also uses a 2.5 L 4-cylinder engine. It gives you the option to plug in at home and drive on electric power for shorter trips.
The RX 500h sits at the top of the range. Its 2.4 L turbocharged 4-cylinder hybrid system makes 367 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque for strong, confident acceleration.
No matter which one fits your needs, you get the same winter gear as standard. That makes the choice easier, since you can focus on performance and efficiency instead of hunting for cold-weather options.
